Three of Henry Smith's sons were professional hockey players
in the early 1900's. Alfred Smith was the captain of the
Ottawa Silver Seven and he won the Stanley Cup in 1903,
1904, and 1905. He was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame
in 1962. That is Alfred in the picture with the Stanley Cup
in front of him. Tommy Smith won the Cup with Ottawa
in 1906 and with the Quebec Bulldogs in 1913.
He also played with the Montreal Canadiens in 1917.
He was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1973.
The third brother was Harry Smith who won the Cup
with Ottawa in 1906. He was the best of the three but
didn't make it to the Hall of Fame because he was more
interested in drinking and partying than playing hockey.
I don't know if you have heard the story of the Stanley Cup
being kicked into the Rideau Canal. That was Harry !
